Cave Lit by Worms

Would you like to replicate these twinkling lights illuminating the ceiling of this New Zealand cave in your own home? No you wouldn't. They are the work of female arachnocampa luminosa, a bioluminescent gnat larva (aka glowworm).

Photographer Joseph Michael takes long-exposure shots of worms that live amongst 30 million-year-old limestone formations on the North Island.
