What Makes Paris Look Like Paris?

Five scholars are running tens of thousands of geotagged images from Google Street View through a proprietary algorithm and then identifying the distinctive architectural elements such as street signs, windows and balconies for each locale to see what makes a city unique. Their experiment  covers Paris, London, Prague, Barcelona, Milan, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, San Paulo, Mexico City, and Tokyo.
