Dug-out Homes In Coober Pedy

The temperature in the mining town of Coober Pedy in the Australian Outback can reach 125 degrees. The people who live there have been driven underground by the brutally hot temperatures and have cut churches, a bar, and living quarters into the rock. One of the perks of digging a home out of this rock is the possibility of uncovering valuable opal that can pay for construction costs.

Although some of the abodes look attractive I can't imagine living in a home without windows or gardens. How about you?
